Have a few hours to spare here and there? Have a day or a half day?

DWS is looking for substitute teachers for Early Childhood and Grades classes!

Qualifications:

Experience in childcare or working with children ages 3 - 6 years is preferred for Pre-K and Kindergarten but not required to apply.

Experience with children ranging in age from 6 to 15 years old is preferred for the Grades program but not required to apply.

The school day is 8-3:30 and extended care continues until 5:30. DWS is looking for full or part-day substitutes.

What will you do?

In ECC, assist the lead teacher if an assistant is out, or assist the assistant if the lead is out, helping with classroom activities, play and storytime, clean-up, dishes, transitions indoors and outdoors, outside supervision and rest time. Lots of hands on help needed.

In grades 1-3 assist the class teacher if an assistant is out, or assist the assistant if the class teacher is out in class activities, individual or small group support, transitions between classes or to recesses and outdoor supervision.

Grades 1-8 lead the class using the class or subject teachers' substitution plans, transitions between classes supervision for recesses, lunch or rest and reading time.

To Get started:

Go to the school website and fill out an application. If you are new to the school you can also sign up on the website to attend a tour to learn more and peek inside the classrooms and see students and teachers at work together.

A member of the Personnel Committee will contact you to set up an interview and schedule time to observe in a classroom before you jump in. You will also get a link to complete on-line hiring paperwork and the steps to obtain background clearances.

Attend an orientation. Gather your all weather gear, lunch box, water bottle, and wristwatch.

Scheduling:

You let the Substitution Coordinator know what days and times you are available and the best way to reach you.

We try to schedule the day or evening before, sometimes absences come in the morning.

Compensation:

Hourly pay is $15.30
